Ingredients |
1 cup dried green peas. ½ cup small dried baby lima beans. 1 lb. round steak or lean stewing beef. 3 pints cold water. 2 cups canned tomatoes. ½ cup pearl barley. ¼ cup diced onion. ¼ cup diced celery. ½ teaspoon celery seed. 3 cups white turnip diced. 2 teaspoons salt. ¼ teaspoon pepper. |
Instructions |
Soak peas and beans over night. Drain. Cut meat into cubes and combine with other ingredients in covered kettle. Cover and bring to boil. Simmer 2 ½ hours. Skim off any excess fat. Serve hot garnished with parsley. Serves 6. |
