Ingredients |
1/3 cup butter 1/2 cup granulated sugar 4 egg yolks 1 cup flour 1/4 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon baking powder 1/4 cup milk 4 egg whites 1/8 teaspoon salt 1 cup fruit sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla 1/2 cup chopped nuts |
Instructions |
Cream butter, add sugar gradually and cream well together. Add well beaten egg yolks. Beat until light. Add sifted dry ingredients and milk alternately. Turn into 2 buttered 9-inch round layer cake pans. Place in refrigerator while preparing. Beat egg whites with salt until stiff. Beat in sugar gradually. Flavor. Pile on cake batter. Sprinkle with nuts. Bake at 350 degrees F. for 35 minutes. Let cool in pans. Arrange on serving plate as a layer cake with a filling of chopped fresh or canned fruits. Serve with whipped cream. |
